Waves of Return

Christopher Smith has spent years as a high-stakes emergency dispatcher, unable to escape the constant tension that follows him even in silence. When mandatory leave forces him to Clearwater Beach, he seeks nothing more than a week of unmonitored calm at a quiet inlet rental.

There he meets Heather Miller, a local wildlife rehabilitator whose patient work with injured animals draws him in. What begins as a chance collision on the dock grows into shared mornings releasing pelicans, night paddles glowing with bioluminescence, and the slow realization that he no longer needs the adrenaline of his old life.

As a storm threatens the rehabilitation center, Christopher and Heather work side by side to protect the animals. In the quiet that follows, he must decide whether to return to the job that once defined him or stay where the tide brings peace instead of panic.
