Architectural historian Angela Carter, 58 and widowed young, arrives in the mist-shrouded town of Blackwater to restore the derelict chapel. Together they expose the Syndicate crimes that silenced Sarah before she could say “I do.”

Threats escalate from sabotaged records to a car run off the road, forcing Angie and Rich to risk the chapel’s legacy and their hard-won solitude. In the belfry and hidden cellar they confront buried truths, share a grounding first kiss as the storm passes, and locate Sarah’s remains sealed in the wall.
