Lookout Mountain Shadows

On the fog-shrouded ridges of Lookout Mountain, investigative reporter Jessica Howard captures a midnight convoy that shouldn’t exist. Moments later she collides with federal agent Matthew Brooks, who orders her off the case and out of his way. When an encrypted message on a discarded phone reveals a human-trafficking network operating in the very shadows Jessica has spent her career exposing, the two are forced into an uneasy alliance.

As sniper fire and midnight ambushes escalate, Jessica and Matthew race to decode the traffickers’ communications before more victims disappear. Their uneasy partnership cracks open old wounds—his fear of losing another partner, her dread of being shut out once the truth surfaces—yet the longer they work side by side, the harder it becomes to ignore the pull between them. When the traffickers kidnap a teenager Jessica interviewed, the stakes turn brutally personal.
