The Shadow Under the Ice

Author: Raven Langford  |  Series: Frostbound Hearts

When diver Marin arrives at a remote Icelandic lake to study a village swallowed by water centuries ago, the locals warn her not to disturb what lies beneath. The ice is too still, the depths too dark, and the old stories too persistent—tales of restless spirits that drag the living down.

Undeterred, she descends into the freezing silence and finds the ruins eerily intact. There, among the submerged streets, a shadow moves. It watches her. When she surfaces with a strange, faintly glowing relic, the lake begins to stir, and the ranger Jorund—guarded, haunted, and bound to the village by blood—can no longer keep his silence.

Together they return to the drowned streets, where a spectral guardian reveals the village’s final, terrible secret. To free the spirits, Marin must perform an ancient ritual, but doing so may destroy the last traces of Jorund’s past. As hostile shades rise and the lake fights to keep its dead, Marin and Jorund must choose between preserving what remains and granting the drowned the peace they have long been denied.

In the depths, they will confront sorrow, sacrifice, and a connection neither expected to find beneath the ice.
