The Whispering Mine
When geologist Tessa Ward arrives in the fading Appalachian town of Briar’s Gap to study an abandoned mine, the locals offer only warnings. They say the mine keeps what it takes—and it has already taken men who were never found. Ignoring their fear, Tessa ventures closer and hears whispers rising from the darkness, too deliberate to be wind.
Cole Maddox, a guarded miner with his own ghosts, tries to keep her away. But when a tremor seals the entrance behind them, they are forced underground together. What begins as uneasy alliance quickly becomes something deeper as they uncover a living entity that feeds on fear, trapping miners in endless trance and twisting their voices into lures.
As the mine’s hunger turns toward Tessa, she and Cole must shatter the source of its power before it buries them all. In the collapsing tunnels, their fragile trust becomes the only light left.
Above ground, the town waits. Below, something ancient and patient still listens. And the whispers have not finished speaking.
