Gap Granite Grace

In the shadow of the Appalachian ridges, grizzled smokejumper Eric Anderson arrives in Raven’s Gap with a hidden lung injury and a career of adrenaline-fueled drops behind him. Local logistics director Kimberly Clark, still carrying the weight of her father’s buried mining secrets, must reroute supplies when a collapsed road strands Eric’s crew. Their paths collide as the Raven’s Gap wildfire reveals itself as an underground inferno racing through forgotten coal veins toward the town’s hollow caverns.

Corporate saboteur Steven Moore descends to bury evidence of past corruption, escalating the danger with methane buildup and blocked vents that threaten the Wisteria Inn and the entire valley. Eric and Kimberly forge a fierce bond through firelit confessions and desperate stands, using infrared scans, an old brass key from a 1980s fire truck, and a blueprint of Vanguard’s 1991 kickbacks to expose the truth.

As the blaze forces them into a hollowed-out stone basin and later the town forge, they confront career burnout, Eric’s concealed injury, and Moore’s attempts to vent toxic gas into residential areas. Kimberly risks her job by diverting Mitchell Dam overflow into the burning veins while Eric shields her from falling embers and locks the primary release valve.

With the town clocktower smoking from within and the Trestle Bridge becoming a wall of flame, they recover the charred Agreement of 1991, present Vanguard’s incendiary blueprints to the council, and cut a massive firebreak around the Inn. The rains finally arrive, dousing the surface flames and cooling the ridge as Eric and Kimberly commit to protecting the mountain that survived.
