Watching You Come Back

Premise

Sarah Jenkins clings to the edges of her tenth-floor apartment in the shadowed high-rises of Red Hollow, a city where every vent whispers with the mechanical click of unseen shutters and the silence feels like a held breath. Haunted by the unsolved disappearance of her aunt—a woman who vanished after scribbling frantic warnings about being "observed"—Sarah battles a gnawing isolation that blurs the line between solitude and surveillance, her days dissolving into a haze of ignored routines punctuated by a growing stack of unopened envelopes on her counter, each one heavy with the dread of revelation. When a red envelope slides under her door declaring her the "new librarian" of some infernal Archive, Sarah's world fractures as Polaroids of her sleeping self multiply, the Cornfield Man leers from distant fire escapes, and her neighbors' stares turn waxy and synchronized, exposing the city as a vast, interconnected stage rigged to capture her every flinch. With her reflection vanishing from mirrors and the watchers' intrusions escalating from scratches at impossible windows to a basement "Processing Plant" teeming with captive audiences, Sarah risks total erasure into their eternal reel—or the shattering power to burn it all down—in a voyeuristic descent into paranoia where every shadow hides a lens, forcing her to confront the fear she's projected onto the world and rewrite her place within it.
