Description
In the spring of 1866, Confederate soldier Caleb Harrington returns to the ruins of his family’s Virginia plantation only to discover that the war has taken everything—except the faint hope of rebuilding what remains.
The woman he once courted, Lydia Beaumont, is now engaged to another man, and the land that once sustained his family lies scorched and fallow. Yet Caleb cannot turn away.
