Description
Lisa Anderson returns to her family’s ancestral pine grove as a widow, determined to honor a generations-old promise. The tall trees still carry the scent of resin and memory, but the weight of thirty years presses on her as she steps back onto the mountain she once left behind.
Her arrival is met by forest ranger Christopher Moore, the man who once promised to wait for her under these same pines. Now he stands in uniform, treating her as a trespasser while the old secret that tore them apart lingers between them like an unhealed wound.
Together they face a timber company’s threat to clear-cut the grove and a mysterious pine wilt that endangers the oldest trees. Days spent climbing ridges and taking samples force them to confront the past, from unsent letters to a buried promise note, until the truth about the secret Christopher kept finally surfaces.
As the fight to save the grove intensifies, old sparks reignite and new trust is forged. Lisa must decide whether the mountain—and the man who waited—can become her home again, fulfilling the promise that has echoed through her family for decades.
