Description
Richard Kane walks out of federal prison carrying nothing but the blueprint of a revolutionary multimodal large language model architecture locked inside his mind. His wife has divorced him. Small bug-bounty wins prove the architecture works faster than anything he has tested, but each success draws attention from hackers who begin asking who Exile_Zero really is.
At a clinic visit, nurse Sharon Lewiston offers unexpected kindness that slowly cracks his isolation. Their conversations give him a fragile anchor while his probation officer grows suspicious of his sudden income and hidden activity. Richard must decide whether to finish the MMLLM, risk losing his freedom and this new connection, or abandon the one thing that could redeem the years he lost.
The completed core produces its first near-intentional output. A mysterious message arrives: “We know what you’re building.” With the architecture running background processes on its own and Sharon’s quiet encouragement beside him, Richard faces the choice to keep building or let the past reclaim him.
