Description

Daniel Foster, the quarry hauler whose heart she broke years earlier, stops her from crossing a weakened ore bridge on her first morning back. A metallic haze drifting from Briarford coats the valley, and the two former lovers are forced into uneasy proximity when ruthless developer Richard Sanders arrives with plans to raze the ironworks for luxury condos. Hidden ledgers and artifacts soon reveal the century-old mystery of ironworkers who vanished during strikes, pulling Amanda and Daniel into a shared investigation.
Collapsing tunnels, sudden flares from slag pits, and distant furnace roars escalate the danger as they trace old tramway tracks and uncover sealed chambers. Their guarded conversations give way to fierce passion one night in a 1920s foundry shack, while letters, diaries, and blueprints expose the brutal conditions that claimed the missing men.
