Description
When a wounded stranger collapses near the McClain homestead, Eliza McClain takes him in despite the town’s warnings. Caleb Rourke arrives in Locust Hill seeking land and anonymity, but danger follows him into the valley, stirring up an old land dispute between the McClains and Braddocks.
As Eliza works the homestead at dawn and discovers a hidden moonshine still tied to her family’s oldest secret, she finds herself drawn to Caleb’s quiet strength. Their cautious meetings on forest trails and riverbanks deepen into trust, even as her father forbids contact and Silas Braddock threatens the family over the disputed ridge.
Eliza searches old letters and discovers records proving the McClains stole the land generations ago. When Silas’s men attack the homestead and a stranger from Caleb’s violent past appears, Eliza must stand against her father, reveal the ledger, and choose between protecting her family’s legacy and embracing honesty with the man who may bring salvation to Locust Hill.
Amid the feud’s unraveling, Caleb helps defend the homestead and offers to negotiate peace. Eliza agrees to sacrifice her inheritance, leading both families to an uneasy truce. As dawn breaks over the changed homestead, she vows to build a new legacy based on truth and plans a life with Caleb beyond the ridge.
