Description
In the quiet valley near Locust Hill, Riley McClain offers a guarded widow the chance to rebuild her life in an abandoned cabin surrounded by overgrown fields and whispering woods. Together they clear brush, mend fences, and coax life back into the neglected land, finding moments of peace amid the slow decay of the countryside.
But the widow’s violent past refuses to stay buried. When a dangerous man from her former life arrives determined to drag her back into darkness, the fragile sanctuary they have built comes under threat. Riley must confront the intruder and the shadows that cling to the woman he has come to care for.
As tension spreads through the valley and old rumors resurface, Riley and the widow stand together against the forces that would tear them apart. Their growing bond becomes both strength and risk in a community already strained by suspicion and hardship.
In the clearing they have reclaimed, they discover that love can take root even in the most broken ground—if they have the courage to defend it.
