Description
Forensic accountant Julian Vane arrives in Clearwater with spreadsheets in his briefcase and no intention of staying. A single vintage receipt leads him to Slip 42, where he meets harbormaster Cassidy Miller, who is fighting to keep the marina out of corporate hands.
What begins as a quick audit turns into something far messier. Cassidy insists Julian learn to tie a bowline before he touches anything on her docks. Morning coffee at the kiosk and long days varnishing the old wooden sloop slowly pull him away from frequency charts and toward the rhythm of wind in the rigging.
When Julian discovers his own firm is behind the acquisition threat, he powers down his laptop and turns his forensic skills on the paper trail instead. Together they uncover the secret fund his grandfather left to protect the coastline. The closer they get to saving the marina, the harder it becomes to imagine returning to his old life.
Under pier lights and in the middle of a summer rainstorm, the line between professional duty and personal longing finally disappears. Julian must choose whether to protect the assets on the ledger or the life he has found outside of it.
